The 2026 RANGER SP 570 Premium is the smaller two-seat choice; the RANGER 1000 Premium adds a third seat and higher listed box and towing ratings. Decide whether your real work needs that larger platform before comparing engine output. A compact vehicle can be the more useful purchase when access, storage or transport is the binding constraint.
This comparison uses the standard SP 570 Premium and three-seat RANGER 1000 Premium. It excludes CREW and NorthStar versions. The 2026 RANGER catalog specification table separates their columns; do not copy the NorthStar width into the open Premium model.
The dimensions and ratings that affect the purchase
| 2026 published specification | SP 570 Premium | RANGER 1000 Premium |
|---|---|---|
| Engine | 567 cc single; manufacturer-rated 44 hp | 999 cc twin; manufacturer-rated 61 hp |
| Designated seats | 2 | 3 |
| Overall length × width × height | 108 × 56 × 74 in | 120 × 62.5 × 78 in |
| Ground clearance | 11 in | 12.5 in |
| Cargo-box limit | 500 lb | 1,000 lb; check California restrictions |
| Towing rating | 1,500 lb | 2,500 lb |
| Front / rear suspension travel | 9 / 10 in | 10 / 10 in |
The RANGER 1000’s matching owner manual identifies a 600-pound California box limit. Use the actual vehicle label and total-weight limit as well as the box rating. Do not treat either machine’s tow rating as permission to tow that load on every surface or gradient.

Measure access with the equipment installed
The published width difference is 6.5 inches. In a hypothetical 60-inch clear opening, a 56-inch vehicle leaves four inches total static width clearance, while a 62.5-inch vehicle exceeds the opening. Those figures are a screening calculation, not an operating-clearance recommendation. Mirrors, door hardware, angled approaches and the ground surface can make either application unsuitable.
At 120 rather than 108 inches listed length, the 1000 also needs another foot of straight-line storage envelope before allowances for access. Measure the trailer’s usable deck between obstructions, not its nominal advertised length. Our trailer measurement checklist separates those measurements.
Passenger needs can settle the decision first
A third person is a seating requirement, not a matter of squeezing onto a two-place bench. If two seats are insufficient, remove the standard SP 570 from that shortlist. If you need four or six seats, compare the actual CREW models rather than applying this table to them.
Extra designated seating also changes the load budget. Record occupant weights, permanently installed equipment and tools. A larger box is useful only within the vehicle’s remaining permitted payload; empty space does not create carrying capacity.
Price the cab and work accessories separately
Have the dealer list the included roof, winch, windshield and other equipment by part number. The Premium label does not mean both platforms include the same accessories. Their cab families differ, so a full-size RANGER windshield should not be ordered for an SP 570 just because both are 2026 models.
Compare delivered quotes for the job you intend to perform. A larger vehicle plus a larger trailer or changed storage arrangement can cost more than the vehicle-price difference. These are costs to obtain, not assumed current dollar amounts.
Choose around the limiting condition
Shortlist the SP 570 when two seats and its actual carrying/towing limits cover the task and compact access matters. Shortlist the 1000 when you need the third seat or its greater approved work limits and it fits your property and transport setup. If either vehicle needs to exceed its label to complete the job, change the work plan or investigate another machine.
