The 2026 Honda Pioneer 700 Deluxe offers a torque-converter, three-speed automatic drivetrain and a published 1,000 lb cargo-bed maximum. The 2026 Polaris RANGER SP 570 Premium is shorter and narrower, with a 500 lb box maximum. Choose according to the work load and access space you actually have, not the “700” and “570” names alone.
This guide compares U.S. two-seat vehicles. The Pioneer 700-4 and Crew SP 570 change seating and length; they are not interchangeable with the configurations below. The Deluxe Honda is also distinct from the Forest trim.

The cargo-box difference can decide a property purchase
A planned 650 lb secured cargo load exceeds the SP 570’s 500 lb box maximum. It is below the Honda’s 1,000 lb box maximum, but that alone does not approve the load. The combined people, equipment, cargo and applicable tongue weight must also fit the complete vehicle’s loading limits.
Distinguish cargo space from cargo permission. A box can physically hold a heavy material long before the load becomes acceptable. Write down the mass of the actual tools or equipment and check how it is secured. Do not use a larger bed to carry passengers. Our payload versus towing explanation keeps these different limits separate.
The compact RANGER needs less nominal access space
The SP 570 Premium is 3.9 inches narrower and 6.8 inches shorter in the manufacturers’ dimensions. Those differences are substantial enough to test at a gate, shed entrance or short trailer. Honda’s higher box rating does not help if the complete vehicle cannot reach the work area.
Measure the actual opening at its narrowest point, then include mirrors and any roof or cab accessories on the delivered vehicle. A brochure height is a screening figure, not a guarantee of clearance through a low door on a ramp. Check approach and exit space as well as the static footprint.
Torque converter versus CVT is an ownership question, not a reliability verdict
Honda’s specification identifies an automotive-style hydraulic torque converter and three forward speeds. Polaris’s SP 570 uses a belt-type automatic with ranges. These are real architectural differences, but they do not prove a fixed service-cost difference or establish which complete vehicle is more reliable.
Ask each dealer to demonstrate the controls and explain the maintenance chart for the exact model. Discuss slow work, approved loads and range or transmission operation using the owner’s manual. A drivetrain’s reputation cannot replace correct operation or the service history of a used example.

Equal towing numbers do not make a tie everywhere
Both manufacturers publish a 1,500 lb towing maximum for these configurations. Hitch equipment, tongue load, terrain, total vehicle load and operating restrictions still need to pass. Do not add the towing maximum to the bed maximum and assume the combination is approved.
For a small utility trailer, record its empty mass plus its actual cargo. A nominal trailer size does not reveal its loaded weight. If towing is the primary job and either configuration falls short of a limit, select a different approved platform rather than treating low range or a larger tire as an increase in capacity.
A demonstration and quote checklist
- Sit in each vehicle with riding equipment and check pedal reach, handholds, entry and visibility.
- Compare the exact roof, steering, doors or nets and winch equipment in the two written quotes.
- Ask for scheduled-service requirements, a local labor quote and availability of routine wear parts.
- If buying used, arrange an independent inspection and verify the full model/year rather than relying on a seller’s broad “Pioneer 700” description.
Choose the Pioneer 700 Deluxe when its verified box capability and drivetrain layout meet the job and its larger footprint fits. Choose the SP 570 Premium when compact access is decisive and its lower cargo rating covers the actual work. If you need a third person regularly, neither of these two-seat examples is the right comparison; start with a designated three-seat configuration.
