The 2026 Outlander MAX DPS 700 is the factory two-up alternative to the regular Outlander DPS 700, with a longer body and wheelbase. It does not achieve that seating change by moving to a larger-displacement engine: both 700 entries use a published 650 cc single-cylinder engine.
This guide covers the U.S./North American 2026 DPS packages, excluding XT, X mr and the 850/1000R family. BRP describes the MAX DPS as a two-up package on its 2026 model page. Numerical figures below use the separate DPS and MAX DPS specification sheets.
What the MAX specification changes
| 2026 published field | Outlander DPS 700 | Outlander MAX DPS 700 |
|---|---|---|
| Engine | 650 cc single; manufacturer-rated 50 hp | 650 cc single; manufacturer-rated 50 hp |
| Overall length × width × height | 86.7 × 47.6 × 48 in | 94.2 × 47.6 × 54 in |
| Wheelbase | 53 in | 60.4 in |
| Ground clearance | 12 in | 12 in |
| Front / rear rack capacity | 120 / 240 lb | 120 / 240 lb |
| Towing rating | 1,830 lb | 1,830 lb |
| Front / rear suspension travel | 9.75 / 10.25 in | 9.75 / 10.25 in |
The sheets’ dry-weight footnotes refer to a base model. We do not present that as a verified ready-to-ride weight for every DPS package. Weigh the actual equipped vehicle for transport planning where weight is decisive.

Choose the passenger arrangement before extra storage
If you need a passenger, verify the actual MAX designation and seating equipment. An aftermarket rack box or backrest does not approve passenger use on a single-place ATV. Check passenger fit, required handholds, foot placement and the instructions for that machine.
A removable passenger arrangement must be used only as described by the manufacturer. Removing a seat does not automatically increase rack, total-load or towing ratings. Save the instructions and keep the vehicle’s safety labels legible.
The geometry matters in storage and transport
The MAX is listed 7.5 inches longer overall and has a 7.4-inch longer wheelbase. Those are separate measurements. A shared 47.6-inch listed width does not make the machines identical to load onto a small deck or turn through a tight entrance.
Inspect the longest installed accessory and the tallest point. A storage box, windshield or rack extension can determine actual clearance. Do not infer handling or stability from the longer wheelbase alone; that would require a suitable evaluation under controlled and documented conditions.
Keep cargo and occupants in one load plan
The identical rack and towing ratings do not mean that occupants and every separate maximum can be combined. Follow the vehicle’s total load, rack distribution and towing instructions. The rack-load guide gives a worksheet for including the empty accessory weight and contents.
For a proposed rear box, confirm the exact 2026 DPS or MAX application and check whether it obstructs the passenger arrangement. Hardware compatibility and safe passenger space are different checks; passing one does not establish the other.
Compare matching dealer packages
Record the 700 engine version, DPS trim, MAX designation, included winch and body protection. The published MAX DPS sheet lists no winch; a seller-installed winch changes the finished quote. Do not compare the advertised entry price of a 500 package with a configured 700 offer.
Start with regular DPS 700 for the appropriate single-rider requirement. Investigate MAX DPS 700 when the factory two-up layout is needed and its longer envelope fits. See 500 vs 700 for the output choice and the passenger-seat guide before interpreting an accessory seat claim.
