Choose a UTV snow plow as a complete compatible system: vehicle mount, push tube or base, blade and approved lifting equipment. Blade width alone does not establish fit, and a larger winch does not make an incompatible mount safe.

WARN’s powersports and snow-plow system navigation separates those components for a reason. Use the manufacturer’s actual fitment and installation documents for your model year and configuration. This guide provides a selection worksheet and a transparent width calculation, not approval for a specific installation.

Measure clearing width at the working angle

For a simplified straight blade, projected width perpendicular to travel is blade width × cos(blade angle). Angle is measured away from the straight-across position. This is geometry, not a manufacturer performance rating; curved blades, wings, tire tracks, steering and snow flow need additional allowance.

Illustrative straight blade At 0° At 30°
60 in. 60 in. 52.0 in.
66 in. 66 in. 57.2 in.
72 in. 72 in. 62.4 in.

Calculations use cos(30°) ≈ 0.866 and round to one decimal. For a 64-inch-wide vehicle, a nominal 72-inch blade projected at 30° spans only about 62.4 inches in this simplified model. That does not cover a 64-inch footprint even before allowing overlap. Check the actual system’s approved dimensions and operating angles.

Build a fitment sheet before ordering

Item Record and confirm
Vehicle Year, full model code, seating/cab package and modifications
Mount Exact approved application and exclusions
Base / push tube Compatible mount, blade and lift arrangement
Lift Approved winch or actuator, travel and routing
Clearance Steering, suspension, radiator airflow and access
Load Equipment mass and all applicable vehicle limits

A listing that says “UTV universal” is not enough evidence. Ask the manufacturer or installer to confirm the combination in writing. Cab and bumper packages can change mounting access. Do not drill, weld or substitute hardware without an approved procedure and appropriate expertise.

Match the blade to the surface and job

List driveway material, slope, obstacles, snow-storage space and typical snow conditions. The right wear edge and shoe adjustment depend on the system and surface. Locate curbs, drains, landscape edges and other hidden obstructions before snow covers them. Mark hazards visibly and plan where displaced snow can safely go.

A wider blade can change the load and maneuvering requirement. Do not infer pushing capacity from engine horsepower or a winch’s recovery rating. Use the plow’s operating instructions for depth, pace and technique. Never use added speed as a substitute for a suitable machine or repeated manageable passes.

Select a complete system

Check the lift system as its own application

Repeated short lift cycles are different from an occasional recovery pull. Check approved line routing, fairlead, lift attachment and the winch or actuator’s instructions. Keep hands away from the moving blade and pinch points. Never work beneath a blade supported only by the lift line; use the prescribed secure support or lower it before service.

Inspect for damage and loose hardware before use, and stop if the mount shifts, the line is damaged, controls malfunction or the system contacts a tire or vehicle component. Do not continue to “see if it settles in.” Have a qualified installer assess the problem.

Questions that should appear on the installed quote

  • Does this complete system fit my exact vehicle and bumper/cab configuration?
  • What are its approved operating-angle and lift limits?
  • Which wear parts, wiring protection and controls are included?
  • Who checks load effects, installation torque and post-installation clearance?
  • What operator instructions and service checks will I receive?

Use the winch selection guide for the separate recovery questions, and the active-winter checklist for the vehicle. A well-matched plow remains subject to the vehicle’s operating and load restrictions.
