Choose the 2026 Polaris RZR XP 4 Sport when four designated seats are necessary and its longer chassis fits your riding area and transport. Choose the RZR XP Sport when two seats cover the trips. The XP 4 adds 27.4 inches of overall length and two seats, while its published maximum weight capacity rises by only 160 lb.
This is a U.S. Sport-trim comparison from 2026 owner’s manual 9942079, Specifications. It excludes Ultimate, XP S, XP S 4 and Pro-family models. The specifications of a two-seat Ultimate should not be used to describe a Sport merely because the badge says XP.
Two-seat and four-seat Sport dimensions
| 2026 Sport specification | RZR XP | RZR XP 4 |
|---|---|---|
| Designated seats | 2 | 4 |
| Overall L × W × H | 119.5 × 64 × 71.1 in. | 146.9 × 64 × 72.8 in. |
| Wheelbase | 90 in. | 117 in. |
| Rear-box maximum | 300 lb | 300 lb |
| Maximum weight capacity | 740 lb | 900 lb |
| Front / rear wheel travel | 16 / 18 in. | 16 / 18 in. |
Maximum weight capacity includes riders, cargo and accessories. The rear-box limit is a separate restriction. Usable travel is also a separately defined quantity; these rows compare wheel travel only.

A four-person load can use much of the allowance
Illustrative load: four people at 180 lb each total 720 lb. Subtracting that from the XP 4 reference maximum of 900 lb leaves 180 lb before other counted loads. A 200 lb cargo load would already exceed the simplified remaining allowance before considering accessories, even though 200 lb is below the box’s 300 lb maximum.
For the two-seat example, two people at the same illustrative mass total 360 lb, leaving 380 lb against the 740 lb reference maximum before accessories. The separate 300 lb box limit still applies. These are transparent examples, not loading approvals. Actual people, equipment and the exact vehicle label determine the result.
A carrier, spare tire, protection and tools can matter as much as luggage. Do the calculation before buying accessories around the apparent spare space. The load worksheet explains why a cargo component can pass its own limit while the whole vehicle fails another.

A longer wheelbase is not a handling verdict
The wheelbase grows by 27 inches, from 90 to 117. That changes the vehicle’s geometry, but does not establish which will be safer or more comfortable on every surface. We have not performed a matched handling test. Avoid translating a dimension into an instruction to drive faster through rough terrain.
Evaluate the actual route at an appropriate pace, within permitted use. Check turning room, transitions and the physical space needed to maneuver. If a route or trailer cannot accommodate the longer configuration, adding seats has introduced a requirement the rest of the plan must solve.
Transport is more than deck length
Measure the trailer opening, usable deck, ramp, wheel-fender clearance and access to approved tie-down points. Verify actual loaded mass against all transport requirements. A brochure dry weight is not the equipped vehicle’s full mass, and a deck that fits the wheels may still leave no workable securement arrangement.
The transport guide covers those separate checks. Do not carry people in the UTV during highway transport, or use a winch as a substitute for the prescribed vehicle restraints.
Check every passenger position
- Confirm the manual’s occupant requirements before deciding that four seats will carry your intended group.
- Try the restraints, handholds, entry and foot space while wearing normal gear.
- Keep luggage secured in approved cargo locations rather than loose between occupants.
- Compare complete Sport builds with the actual roof, protection and other equipment listed.
If width and suspension package, rather than seating, are the main decision, use the XP versus XP S comparison. Choose passenger capacity and chassis size deliberately; neither the extra row nor a larger vehicle outline gives unlimited carrying capability.
